Cats make ideal pets but some of their habits can be a little bit of a nuisance around the house. Something like bring dead animals into your home can be difficult to prevent but other habits are a bit easier to stop.
Cats have sharp claws and they definitely like to use them. This if usually fine if they’re outdoors sharpening the claws on a fence post out of sight. But often they like to use their claws indoors too. You’ll find that a cat’s claws will quickly rip your soft furnishings and wallpaper to shreds.
This is where using cat scratchers in the home comes in. That way your cat can relieve its natural scratching instincts on something that you won’t mind being damaged.
Another problem area is the cat litter box. If this is one chore you’d rather not have to deal with you could looking at automatic cat litter boxes as a solution to this unpleasant task. Whether you’re at home or out at work these litter boxes will still automatically clean up the mess with the minimum of fuss.
Another problem with cat litter boxes is that they are not exactly discrete. That’s why cat litter box covers are such a good idea. They can look like bits of traditional furniture, or they can be more contemporary in style in a whole array of colours to match your decor.
There are several reasons why using a cover will make your life easier. One is the fact that the litter is less likely to end up on the floor which can be a tiresome problem. Another is that many cats don’t like to do their business if they think they can be seen. And thirdly being covered helps to keep the less than pleasant odours from spreading about so far, especially if you use a charcoal filter.
Each cat is very much an individual so you have to take into account their own little foibles. But it’s these quirks and occasional stubbornness that makes them so lovable and interesting to have around your home.
